According to NHL Insider Elliott Friedman, discussions are ongoing. Additionally, he notes that “clarity” and “specific language” will be paramount in determining when someone has crossed the line, whether recently or in the past.

Former Red Wings assistant coach Bill Peters resigned from the Calgary Flames last month after having revealed to have made racially insensitive remarks to a former player. Another former Red Wings bench boss in Mike Babcock is having his name dragged through the news regarding his conduct of former players including Johan Franzen in Detroit and Mitch Marner in Toronto.
