HELLO? SIRI?: NHL official pulls out iPhone for video review

Maybe he just needed to phone a friend? Maybe he needed help with the definition of “goal” or in this case “offside”.

Whatever the case may be, first year NHL linesman Ryan Daisey thought it necessary to whip out his iPhone during an 8-minute review of an offsides call that the crew would end up getting wrong anyways.

The most logical reason for using his phone is that the line between the referees and the NHL review room in Toronto wasn’t working properly. But still, that didn’t stop us from having a cheap laugh at the young linesman’s expense.
