Jared Goff has no interest in making sure people know who he is

Following the conclusion of the 2020 season, the Detroit Lions traded Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams for a trio of draft picks… and Jared Goff.

When the trade was made, most believed (and most still do believe) that Goff was just going to be a bridge to the Lions’ next franchise starting quarterback.

But if you listen to Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes talk about Goff, it sure does not sound like they are planning to get rid of him any time soon.

That being said, if Goff does not perform better in 2022 than he did in 2021, it seems likely that the Lions would move on from him.

Jared Goff has no interest in making sure people know who he is

One thing is for sure, Jared Goff is very excited about the upcoming season, and a big reason why is because of the Detroit Lions’ new offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson.

During an interview with ESPN, Goff explained that how Johnson is installing the offense is the right way to do it.

“If you don’t do it the right way, it can be too much and confusing,” said Goff of installing more offense. “But when you install it sequentially and in a way that makes sense, it’s good for guys. The best offenses I’ve been on in L.A. with the way Sean [McVay] installs, it’s got to be sequential.”

Goff knows that 2021 was not his (or his team’s) best year but he is not worried about trying to make sure people know who he is.

“I’m not out here trying to make sure people know who I am — if I play well, that will all take care of itself,” Goff said. “Last year wasn’t our best year or my best year. How do I get better from that and come out here and play well this year, and then let people say what they may.”

Nation, do you think Jared Goff will play well enough in 2022 to be considered as the Detroit Lions’ long-term answer at quarterback?
