Inside the Article:
When the initial voting results came in, Frank Ragnow was the only Detroit Lions player to get selected to play in the 2023 Pro Bowl Games in Las Vegas. But, after the Philadelphia Eagles advanced to the Super Bowl, some additional slots opened up and three more Detroit players were chosen. Those players are Jared Goff, Penei Sewell, and Amon-Ra St. Brown. While talking to reporter Dannie Rogers, Goff said there should be a few more of his teammates in Vegas.
Jared Goff was not surprised by Pro Bowl nod
While speaking to Dannie Rogers, Goff said that when the Eagles advanced to the Super Bowl, he had a “pretty good idea” that he would replace QB Jalen Hurts.
“I had a pretty good idea when Hurts went to the Super Bowl but found out a day or two later and I was excited,” Goff told Rogers. “It was a lot of fun. My family’s here and a couple of friends, and it’s always fun to be here around these guys.”
Goff thinks more Detroit Lions players should be at Pro Bowl
Despite Detroit having four representatives at the Pro Bowl Games, Goff thinks a “few more” of his teammates should be joining him.
“You can easily make the argument that there should be a few more of us here,” Goff said. “But it’s been great to see them here and to see them enjoy it. Especially Penei and St. Brown in their first one. To see them experience this around these guys. It’s a lot of fun for me, being an older guy, and it’s great.”
Bottom Line
When looking up and down the Pro Bowl rosters each year, the teams with the best records generally get the most Pro Bowl players. That being said, moving forward, if Detroit continues on the trajectory they are currently on, it would not be surprising at all to eventually see them get even more players selected as Pro Bowlers.
