On Thursday night, former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell joined former Lions safety, Glover Quin, on his “The DB Room” YouTube show and he revealed a little nugget that we had previously suspected.
Caldwell told Quin that he believes he was the Lions’ second choice to become their next head coach prior to the 2014 season.
“I don’t think I was the first choice, I really don’t,” Caldwell said. “But I think it ended up being the right one for me. I think probably Ken Whisenhunt I believe turned that job down. They may have offered it to him is kinda what I understand.”
Caldwell went on to coach four seasons with the Lions, leading them to a 36-28 record.
Whisenhunt, in case you forgot, was hired by the Tennessee Titans, where he lasted just over a season, going 3-20.
