Michigan Football coach is quite familiar with now-retired quarterback Andrew Luck. After all, he coached Luck during his time at Stanford.
Luck announced his retirement at age 29 on Saturday night, sending shock waves throughout the sports world. Harbaugh was asked about the sudden retirement, and he had nothing but great things to say about Luck.
“He’s a brother,” Harbaugh said. “One of my all-time favorite players I’ve ever coached. His wishes are not to play right now.”
Harbaugh then appeared to take a subtle jab at those who are questioning Luck’s decision.
“As far as other people and their reactions, I would say, even though his intentions were clear and very well-spoken, to not understand a man’s purpose does not make him confused,” Harbaugh said.

“It’s been unceasing, unrelenting, both in-season and offseason, and I felt stuck in it,” Luck told reporters after the Colts’ preseason game against the Bears on Saturday. “And the only way I see out is to no longer play football. It’s taken my joy of this game away and … I’ve been stuck in this process (and) haven’t been able to live the life I want to live.”
