If you watched the Detroit Lions in 2016, you realize the main reason the team made the playoffs (despite backing in) was the play of their quarterback, Matthew Stafford.

Time and time again, Stafford refused to lose and led his team back from the dead to win a game. Were it not for his determination, there is no way the Lions would have qualified for the playoffs.

Overall in 2016, Stafford completed 65.3% of his passes for 4,327 yards while throwing 24 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions. His play on the field was so good at one point that he was in the NFL MVP conversation. Unfortunately, the Lions blew it in their final three games of the regular season, otherwise, Stafford very well could have brought home some hardware for his efforts.
