The University of Michigan Athletic Department is facing a massive deficit.
According to AD Warde Manuel, the total deficit is north of $60 million, thanks mostly to Michigan Stadium being empty last fall during games thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the deficit will be covered by a general loan from the school.
Last year at this time, there was a budget operating deficit of $26.1 million predicted.
