The moment Ron Gardenhire notified the Detroit Tigers that he was retiring from baseball effective immediately, there has been plenty of speculation as to who would replace him.

But according to reports, there was always one man at the top of their wish list and that was former Astros manager, A.J. Hinch.
Well, according to reports, the Tigers will make Hinch their next manager by the end of the day on Friday.

Hinch, who is 46, is coming off of a 1-year suspension for his role in the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal.
In seven seasons as a manager (2 with the Arizona Diamondbacks and 5 with the Astros), Hinch has an overall record of 570-462, including winning over 100 games in each of his final three seasons with the Astros.
During his days as a player, Hinch spent one season (2003) with the Tigers. During that season, he batted .203 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 27 games.
