Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers came under fire for misleading the media with regards to his immunization status against COVID-19. He tested positive for the illness several weeks ago and was forced to miss his team’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
He continues to maintain that he’s doing what he feels is best for his own personal situation, and specifically called out what he feels is the lack of debate regarding the issue during his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show”.
“When did we lose the ability to respect somebody’s opinion?” he opined. “My thoughts on Covid are my opinion on this matter. We can’t have a healthy dialogue without name calling and mudslinging and calling people “anti-vaxxers” and “cook”? I made a decision that I think is best for my body. You might not agree with it, and that’s fine. You want to talk about it in in a civil way and be respectful of each other’s opinions, or are you going to cancel me because I’m not a doctor and I”m some dome jock who hasn’t done research on my own? Those are false. Why can’t we have more conversations between people with different opinions?”
“If science can’t be questioned it’s not science anymore it’s propaganda, and that’s the truth,” he said. “When someone comes out with a scientific study, what do they always say? They say it’s peer reviewed. It means that people in the same field have gone through it and questioned the hypothesis and research and looked it up to see if this research holds up. That’s what science is all about – forming hypotheses, questioning them, testing them, and releasing the results. When did science become this blind agreement and not having any debate over what can actually kill and work for people?”
“I think at the core is that I don’t have a problem if someone is vaccinated. It’s your body, your choice. You made a choice that you felt was in your best interest…but I made a decision that was in the best interest of my body, and that’s what it should be. There should be the freedom to choose what’s in your best interest.”
Rodgers has led the Packers to the NFC North Crown, and has the Frozen Tundra drawing of another Super Bowl title early next year.
