It’s no secret that Michigan Football head coach Jim Harbaugh and college football analyst Paul Finebaum aren’t exactly the best of friends.
Harbaugh is routinely a target for Finebaum’s wrath, and he hasn’t relented this week ahead of Michigan’s pivotal matchup this evening against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the Big House.
While speaking on the “Golic and Wingo” show, Finebaum was in classic form, saying that simply flipping through the phone book would yield a better head coach than who currently occupies that position in Ann Arbor.
“It’s become a loser mentality at Michigan,” Finebaum said. “I’m not necessarily blaming Harbaugh. I don’t even think Harbaugh, sometimes, knows or is cognizant of what’s being said around him because he lives in a different world than the rest of us.
“This attachment to Harbaugh is really downright sick. Like, Michigan doesn’t think it can go out and get a better coach. I could pick up the yellow pages of college coaches right now, close my eyes and pick a better coach than Jim Harbaugh.”
While he didn’t quite go that far, FS1 radio host Colin Cowherd believes that people are holding Harbaugh to too high of a standard – and the top standard happens to be that of Michigan’s most bitter rival.
“Michigan isn’t OSU,” Cowherd wrote on Twitter. “We’re holding Harbaugh to a Buckeye standard. They are not.”
Sitting at 5-2, the Wolverines are hoping to rebound from last week’s devastating loss to Penn State.
