Pistons get a much-needed home win against the Washington Wizards

The Detroit Pistons (12-20) were able to take care of business at home against the Washington Wizards (9-21), defeating the Wizards 132-102. This was a much-needed home win for Detroit, as the Pistons will begin their west coast road trip just a few days from now. After losing to the Wizards in their previous matchup 133-119, the Pistons enjoyed the lead for a majority of tonight’s game and opened the flood gates in the second quarter, not allowing the Wizards to recover.

The Pistons were without Luke Kennard for tonight’s game. Luke Kennard is currently dealing with a knee injury and will be re-evaluated in a few weeks. Bruce Brown Jr. came back from a calf injury after missing Monday’s game against the 76ers. Brown came off the bench for tonight’s game, but that did not stop him from scoring 12 points while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out five assists in 27 minutes.

For the Pistons, it was Christian Wood leading the way. Wood finished tonight’s victory with 22 points and seven rebounds. Andre Drummond finished tonight’s game with another double-double, scoring 14 points while pulling down 10 rebounds. Tim Frazier, filling in for Bruce Brown as the starting point guard, scored 17 points while dishing out six assists. Blake Griffin finished tonight with 14 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.

Anzejs Pasecniks led the charge for the Wizards, scoring a career-high 17 points. Bradley Beal finished with 15 points for the Wizards but appeared to have suffered a calf injury during tonight’s game. He went to the locker room at the end of the third quarter and did not return.

The Pistons shot 53.5 percent from the floor in tonight’s win, including going 19-48 (39.6 percent) from the three-point line. The 19 made three’s was a season-high for the Pistons.

With tonight’s victory, the Pistons snapped a five-game losing streak. The Pistons will enjoy tomorrow off before beginning their west coast road trip this Saturday against the San Antonio Spurs at 8:30 PM.
