Player to Watch Dylan Larkin- The Red Wings look to snap two game skid with the help of Dylan Larkin and his success again Calgary

The Detroit Red Wings will take on the Calgary Flames at Little Caesars Arena tonight with puck drop set for 7:00 PM. This is the Red Wings first matchup against the Flames this season after they played twice last season with the Red Wings being shutout in both games losing 3-0 in both matchups against the Flames.

Dylan Larkin Detroit Red Wings

Tonight’s Red Wings player to watch: Dylan Larkin

The Red Wings captain has been dealing with the talks of his contract negotiations this season, but he has not let that affect his play. Larkin took part in the all-star game as the lone Red Wings representative and scored five goals and one assist for six points in the two games the Atlantic Division participated in, he also scored a hat trick in the Championship game.

Larkin rode that streak into the first game back tallying an assist in the loss to the Oilers on Tuesday, in the last five games Larkin has tallied three assists for three points and in the last three games he has two assists for two points.

This season Larkin has played in 48 of the Red Wings 49 games scoring 15 goals and tallying 29 assists for 44 points. Larkin is the team leader in assists and points, and he is tied for the team lead in goals with Lucas Raymond.

Larkin plays on the first line and will be playing alongside Raymond and Tyler Bertuzzi.

Larkin plays on the first line of the power-play unit along with Raymond, Bertuzzi, David Perron and Moritz Seider.

  • Larkin has seven power play goals.
  • Larkin has seven assists on the power-play.
  • Larkin has 14 power-play points.
  • Larkin has one shorthanded goal.

Larkin’s numbers against the Flames

In his career Larkin has played in 12 games against the Flames scoring six goals and four assists for ten points. Last season the Wings were shutout in both games against the Flames so Larkin did not get on the score sheet in those games but in the last matchup before those shutouts Larkin scored the only two goals in that game for Detroit.

Wrap Up

The Red Wings come into this one looking to score a goal against the Flames for the first time since February 23, 2020 a game in which the Red Wings lost 4-2, the Red Wings have also not beaten the Flames since November 15, 2017.

The only Red Wing who was on the team the last time they beat the Flames that is playing in this one is Larkin who tallied a goal and two assists in that 8-2 win. The Red Wings will need a game like that one tonight to hopefully jump start them and look to get them back in the win column and potentially get a winning streak started.
