Red Wings fans react to the news of Justin Abdelkader’s tenure in Detroit ending

The Detroit Red Wings made the call this afternoon to officially place Justin Abdelkader on waivers for the purposes of a compliance buyout of the three remaining years on his contract.

Abdelkader, who was drafted by the Red Wings in 2005 while playing for the Michigan State Spartans, enjoyed a productive start of his NHL career, but his offensive numbers dipped in each year following putting the pen to paper on the $29.5 million deal in 2015.
