Inside the Article:
The 2023 NHL trade deadline will come and go on March 3rd, and there has been plenty of chatter regarding what Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman will decide to do. Heck, there is even talk about the Red Wings trading their captain Dylan Larkin if the two sides cannot come to an agreement on a long-term contract extension. But in this suggested blockbuster trade, the Red Wings would acquire former NHL All-Star, Jakob Chychrun.
Who would the Red Wings give up for Jakob Chychrun?
On Sunday, Michael DeRosa of The Hockey Writers dropped an article in which he suggest a blockbuster trade that could go down between the Red Wings and Arizona Coyotes.
Here are the details of the suggested trade:
- Red Wings get D Jakob Chychrun
- Coyotes get Red Wings’ 2024 first-round pick, 2023 second-round pick, Marco Kasper, and William Wallinder
Why it Matters
Adding Chychrun to the mix would make sense for the Red Wings for multiple reasons.
- Chychrun is a solid defenseman who is still just 24 years old
- Pairing Chychrun with Moritz Seider would be perfect for the Red Wings
- Chychrun is under contract through 2023-24 for an affordable $4.6 million cap hit
Jakub Chychrun by the Numbers
Here is a little bit about how Chychrun has performed in his seven-year NHL career.
- 2020-21 NHL All-Star
- 58 goals and 107 assists in 367 career games
- 5 goals and 18 assists in 30 games in 2022-23
- 544 career blocks
- 482 career hits
No way…..
Most stupid thing I have ever read
I could see the picks going to Arizona and I could see William Wallinder being included,as well.Their is no way that Marco Kasper is included in this deal.If Kasper we’re included that would be like giving Arizona 2-1st rounders (2024 first,Marco Kasper 2022 8th overall pick), and 2-2nd rounders (2023 second,William Wallinder 2021 2nd rd pick).Instead of Marco Kasper, either Def-Donovan Sebrango,or Def-Jared McIsaac, both of whom are with the Grand Rapids Griffens of the AHL,would be a more realistic addition to the proposed deal.
