Refs screw Detroit Lions, Matthew Stafford proceeds to rub it in their faces

This won’t come as a surprise to you but on Sunday, the Detroit Lions were not only playing against the Green Bay Packers but for parts of the game, they were also playing against the referees.

A good example of this came in the fourth quarter with the Lions trailing the Packers 28-14. Matthew Stafford dropped back and threw a beautiful ball to Marvin Jones Jr. who made the catch and got both of his toes in bounds.

Unfortunately, the referees called the pass incomplete, which caused Lions interim head coach Darrell Bevell to use a challenge flag for a play that would surely be overturned.

Except for one problem, the call on the field was upheld, much to the Lions’ (and their fans) dismay.

Here is the play.

And here is the proof.

Well, Stafford was having none of it and proceeded to lead the Lions down for a touchdown!

  1. It was a great catch, unfortunately it was not in bounds. At possession of the ball both feet were not touching ground. Jones got one toe drag, that’s it. Incomplete – out of bounds. It was close, but the refs made and upheld the right call.

    • That’s BS… look at the video. His feet are one toe in and the other dragging. I’ve seen other calls as reception with less than that. You’re either blind or one of the refs…

  3. Lions playing the Packers, is like Michigan playing Ohio State, no difference, both losers! Left Mo town in 1952, and how many playoff games have the Lions been in? I watched Bobby Lane in Briggs Stadium, so I go a ways back. I would guess they’ve been in 2 maybe 3. A long way back they got crushed by the Saints, and then way, way back seem to remember a 5-0 loss to the Cowboys.

  4. Fuck the NFL they is a rigg gang of cheaters n they do it over n over do to the lions n your face like u a fucking dummy

    • The Lions have paid more money to NFL in advertising Ford Motor Co than any other team in the NFL and this is the thanks. They’re linked way too often. Ford should quit supporting these corrupt gangsters.

    • Get your EYES checked….The Detroit Kittens got every call in the 4th quarter…that’s the only way they were able to march down the field!!! 4 or 5 defensive penalties against Green Bay!!!

  5. You don’t know your ass from a hole in the ground. The receiver must have two feet inbounds “after” securing the ball, not before.

  6. Lion’s always have to for years. Football is a Money game with a entertainment for the high profile teams. That’s where the refs come in they do pick plays even thru slow motion. So it will be awhile when the NFL catches on, ya right! So the refs play favorite all the time, look at brady he cries when a play don’t go and the refs look out for him maybe a pass interference maybe? Refs make unfair but the pool sharks love it!

  7. Sad to say but it’s the same thing in every professional sport if you’re not a winning franchise you are not going to get calls because the referees are biased

  8. The refs suck…it was clearly a catch..
They just want the Packers to win..Arron is the biggest cry baby in football…

  9. These refs suck!!! The Vikings had many mishap calls as well. The NFL needs to do something about theses terrible refs!

  10. I have been a Green Bay fan for 60yrs. I couldn’t believe they called the pass incomplete. It makes me wonder what they look at sometimes. I could understand the on the field call of incomplete because it happened so fast. But in slo-mo it should have been a no Brainer for replay. (Complete pass.)

  11. To me it looks like he has his feet down. However, when a player goes out of bounds they need to maintain full control of the ball. He must have let the ball slip or move, as that will cause a play to be incomplete in the NFL. I see a lot of talk about the feet but I believe that the issue is with the hands. One thing worth mentioning is that this camera angle doesn’t get his hands on the ground that well, so it is difficult to tell.

  12. The “no PI” call on Cepheus at the end of the first half was much worse. We’re first and goal after that blatant miss.

  13. They should have DUMPED Martha Stafford years ago…he’s the reason Calvin Johnson retired prematurely…years of throwing hazardous passes that put megatron in danger of physical harm everytime he stretched out to make spectacular 12′ – 14′ over his head catches or catches down by his ankles

  14. Who cares? Anyone who is a true fan of the game and hates to see refs ruin it. Freeze frame shows ball in hands, both feet on ground, in bounds, that’s a catch, can’t argue with the pictures. Refs screwed them on this one. Just like they screwed the Saints vs the Rams on a no DPI call…. Among many other highly questionable calls the NFL is now infamous for. Maybe it’s not rigged, but they sure do a good job of making it look that way. SMH….
