UPDATE:
When news broke that John Beilein was leaving Michigan for the Cleveland Cavaliers, many people had the same thought as I did.
That thought was that Beilein was a great college coach but his message would not get through to most NBA players who were getting paid millions.
Well, it sounds like that is exactly what is happening as The Athletic is reporting that Cavaliers players have already started to ignore what Beilein is trying to do.
From The Athletic:
In the midst of losses in four consecutive games and 10 of their past 11, Cavaliers players are bristling at new coach John Beilein because heโs treating this season like they, and he, are still in college, numerous sources told The Athletic.
Itโs already gotten to the point where players are looking past Beilein to his lead assistant, J.B. Bickerstaff, for guidance, those sources said.
โGuys drowned out his voice, and when guys start searching for the next in line for help, I believe youโve lost them,โ one Cavs player said.
โThe little things become big things, and sometimes very big things,โ another player said.
โOur assistants are definitely more prepared for the NBA,โ a third said.
Nation, does this surprise you or did you expect it?
