Report: Detroit Lions in talks to trade for starting running back

In 2018, the Detroit Lions averaged 4.1 rushing yards per attempt, which was good for No. 28 in the NFL.

Following the season, the Lions fired offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter and hired Darrell Bevell, which the hopes of establishing a solid rushing attack.

Up to this point in the 2019 season, the Lions are actually averaging 0.3 yards less per carry (3.8) than they averaged a year ago.

One big reason for the drop is Kerryon Johnson has struggled. After averaging 5.4 yards per carry during his rookie season, Johnson is averaging 3.3 yards per carry in his sophomore campaign.

According to a report, the Lions are one of three teams to have talked to the Miami Dolphins about trading for their starting RB Kenyan Drake.

So far in 2019, Drake has averaged just 3.7 yards per carry after averaging 4.7 yards per carry over the previous three seasons.

Drake is also a player who can catch the ball well out of the backfield as he has 94 receptions over the past three seasons.
