The hope was that the Detroit Red Wings would finally catch some luck in the NHL Draft lottery and land the No. 1 overall pick but as we know, that was not the case at all. In fact, the worst-case scenario happened and the Red Wings are now stuck with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft.
Steve Yzerman will have a tough decision to make with the Red Wings are on the clock as a handful of names have been mentioned as potential targets at No. 4.
One of those players Yzerman is potentially interested in is RW Lucas Raymond.
Raymond is touted as a forward who is “silky smooth” with “great vision.”
But according to reports, if Yzerman does select Raymond at No. 4, there is no chance at all of seeing him in a Red Wings jersey in the 2020-21 season as he is currently under contract in the SHL that will not allow him to move to North America.
Nation, is Raymond a player Yzerman should be targeting?
Confirmed: Raymond and Holtz won't play in the NHL next season. They have contracts in the SHL that won't allow them to move to NA. It was unlikely to happen either. https://t.co/pkPVu7DR87
