From Friday through Sunday, the Detroit Lions held their rookie minicamp and one player who reportedly played as advertised out of college was wide receiver, Amon-Ra St. Brown.
St. Brown, who was selected by the Lions in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, spoke to the media following camp and he had a very clear message for his fellow wide receivers on the team.
“I’m excited to be here, I’m excited to work, and I’m ready to take someone’s job,” St. Brown said.
To be fair, the Lions do not exactly have an amazing stable of wide receivers, and chances are that St. Brown will be expected to be one of their top three guys heading into the upcoming season.
Brown explained how having two older brothers was something that drove him to be ultra-competitive as he grew up.
“Having two older brothers, being super competitive my whole life,” St. Brown said. ”I was always extra competitive. I always had to do a little extra more to beat them at whatever we were doing. So, that’s just kind of the mentality that I have is come in and take someone’s job.
Nation, do you think St. Brown will end up being a draft steal like I do?
Yes I do but everybody talks about the last two years of receivers like they were so good . They mention Golladay and never shows his stats for those last two years or the number of games he played. He was and is a # 2 wr and when he was made #1 he couldn’t last the year. I liked him but really Stafford never had a # we after Calvin Johnson. Please people need to watch when whoever was covered by best cb of the other team just what happened? Stats people Detroit lacked talent at wr during the last few years .
