Absolutely nothing had gone right for the Detroit Lions this season, as they came into this afternoon’s divisional matchup at Ford Field against the Minnesota Vikings riding a 15 game winless skid that dated back exactly 364 days.
And the misery appeared on the verge of continuing as Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins connected with Justin Jefferson in the end zone to re-take the lead over the Lions with under two minutes remaining in regulation.
However, the Lions were able to finally snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Maligned first-year Lions quarterback Jared Goff found Aman Ra-St. Brown in the end zone as time expired after leading his team down the field, walking it off for the home team and finally giving Detroit that elusive 1st victory of the season.
ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith was quick to call out the Vikings on social media afterwards – and QB Kirk Cousins in particular.
The @Vikings. Good lord! They give up the game-winning TD as time expires to the then-winless @Lions. I know Cousins doesn’t play defense, but I’m just not surprised that HiS team would lose a game like this! Who’s their leader? Don’t expect Zimmer here after this season.
