Following a very disappointing 2020 campaign, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh signed an incentive-laden contract that made him one of the lowest-paid coaches in the entire Big Ten.
Plenty of haters rushed to social media to rip Harbaugh for having his previous pay cut roughly in half while talking heads on the radio (mostly Michigan State fans) did exactly the same thing.
Fast forward to two weeks ago when news broke that Michigan State was on the verge of signing Mel Tucker to a 10-year, $95 million deal, despite only having one big win under his belt (37-33 win over Michigan) since taking over the Spartans program.
Upon that news breaking, the #TuckComin hashtag trended on Twitter as Michigan State fans were ecstatic about the thought of having Tucker around for the next decade.
Tucker’s Spartans then proceeded to get absolutely embarrassed by the Ohio State Buckeyes in a game in which they trailed 49-0 at halftime.
A week later, Harbaugh had his team more than ready as Michigan took the Buckeyes to the woodshed during a very impressive 42-27 win at the Big House. With the win, the Wolverines advance to the Big Ten Championship game, with a berth in the College Football Playoff on the line.
You can bet that by signing Tucker to a massive contract, Michigan State believes that he will lead the team to Big Ten Championship games and hopefully more.
Folks, those beliefs may come true, and Tuck may be comin’, but Jim Harbaugh is already here.
