On Thursday night, the Dylan Larkin and the Detroit Red Wings battled the Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. When all was said and done, the Wings escaped with a 5-4 victory behind a slick breakaway overtime goal by Larkin.

As great as Larkin’s goal was, that moment was not the best moment of the night for one young Red Wings fan who was in attendance.

The young fan who we are referring to is 14-year old, Jesse Walker. Walker is battling a form of brain cancer (medulloblastoma) and playing and watching hockey has helped carry him on. On Thursday, Jesse and his brother were able to watch the Red Wings practice and then they sat the Gold seats for the game. As you can see below, Jesse brought a homemade sign to the game that said, “Larkin help me stick it to cancer.”

Following the game, Larkin not only gave the child his stick, but he took the time to bring him to the Red Wings locker room for a photo.

Check it out.

Red Wings fans, is there really any question about who the next Captain of the team should be?

On Thursday night, the Detroit Red Wings jumped out to a 3-1 first period lead over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Wings extended their lead to 4-1 in the second period and it looked like the rest of the game would just be a formality.

But the Maple Leafs were not about to go quietly into the night as they stormed back, scoring three third period goals to send the game to overtime.

With the momentum clearly in favor of the Maple Leafs, the Red Wings had to regroup and that’s exactly what they did.
