Defensive End
In order for a defense to succeed at any level, it is crucial to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks. That is something the Lions failed to do in 2016 and doing so in 2017 could dictate how the season goes. Ziggy Ansah, despite not showing up much on the stat sheet this past season, is still extremely talented, but he needs help.

Devin Taylor, who started opposite Ansah in 2016, is a free agent has not proven he is capable of getting pressure on the quarterback on a regular basis. One player who had a breakout season for the Lions this past season is Kerry Hyder, but he would be better as a depth guy than a starter. Look for the Lions to draft a defensive end early in the 2017 NFL Draft.
