The 97.1 The Ticket (WXYT-FM) broadcast studio is going to be renamed in honor of a beloved colleague.
The studios will be renamed “The Samuelsen Studio” in honor of Jamie Samuelsen, who succumbed to colon cancer on August 1 after a 19-month battle with the disease.
“Jamie meant so much to our station and was a key part of our listeners lives,” said Debbie Kenyon, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Entercom Detroit. “We wanted to honor him in a special way, not only as a great broadcaster, but an extraordinary person. We hope the renaming of the studio will serve as a way to keep his memory alive and add to his incredible legacy here in Detroit.”
The announcement was made during “The Morning Show with Stoney and Heather” with help from Bob Wojnowski. Both Mike Stone and Wojnowski9 both served as on-air cohosts with Samuelsen, and were deeply affected by his passing.
