Oh, those were the days!
Check out this gorgeous pass from Steve Yzerman to then-rookie Henrik Zetterberg for a Detroit Red Wings goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Joe Louis Arena in early 2003. Yzerman stole the puck from a Toronto defenseman and broke in on a two-on-one rush with Zetterberg, and fed the puck cross ice to the young Swede who then beat goaltender Ed Belfour.

The Detroit Red Wings took care of business against the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night in comeback fashion, overcoming a 2-0 deficit to eventually come out on top 3-2 in overtime. With the win, the Red Wings remain undefeated in the 2018 pre-season with a perfect 6-0 record.

The overtime hero was none other than forward Filip Zadina, who blasted home his second goal of the pre-season after being fed by Luke Glendening. Zadina’s one-timer beat goaltender Jaroslav Halak glove-side to complete Detroit’s comeback just 24 seconds into overtime.
After falling behind by a 2-0 score following goals by David Pastrnak and Lee Stempniak, the Red Wings got on the scoreboard courtesy of a Gus Nyquist power play goal, cutting Boston’s lead in half. Nyquist would then assist on the tying goal, scored by defenseman Dennis Cholowski (also his second goal of the pre-season). With 22:10 of ice time, Cholowski led the Red Wings in ice time and continues to make his case to head coach Jeff Blashill that he should be left on the opening night roster come next week against the Columbus Blue Jackets. His poise and strong play during Detroit’s pre-season makes him a prime candidate to be one of the defensive prospects to replace Mike Green, who is currently battling a virus and is out for the start of the regular season.
