Earlier today, Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch spoke to reporters and he said that “in a perfect world,” he would still like to add another catcher to the mix.
“Ideally we would add to our mix and put some pressure on guys to make our team,” he said. “In a perfect world, there’s still a guy out there that can help us, but whether the market produces that, whether that’s how we choose to spend our dollars, is obviously up to (general manager Al Avila).”
Well, Tigers’ GM Al Avila must have been listening because according to reports, the Tigers are close to finalizing a deal with free-agent catcher, Wilson Ramos.
The deal, according to Jon Heyman, for 1 year and is worth $2 million.
