We are just 16 days away from the start of the 2022 NFL regular season and second-year wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and the Detroit Lions are ready to do whatever it takes to make their mark on the league.
During a recent interview, Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson explained that St. Brown is on a mission to improve his ability to make plays after he catches the ball.
He’s special, man,” Johnson said of St. Brown. “He really is. He’s on a mission right now. I talked to him in the middle of the summer during our off time to see how he’s doing. He said, ‘Coach, I’m telling you right now, this run after catch, I’m all over it.’
The aggression that he has, he has that controlled aggression for a receiver that is rare,” Johnson said. “It shows up in the run game. It shows up in his route running and his breaks and it carries over for the rest of the group.”
Amon-Ra St. Brown feels like Detroit Lions ‘can make noise' in 2022
During a recent interview, Amon-Ra St. Brown mentioned what the 2021 Cincinnati Bengals did in 2021 as a template for what the Detroit Lions can do in 2022.
“We're on a path where we feel like we can make noise,” second-year wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown said. “The Lions organization has been an underdog for a long time now. But organizations can flip around quick. Look at the Bengals. Last year, they went to the Super Bowl, and the year before that, they were at the bottom of the league. All it takes is a few guys to buy in.”
“In this league, every year is a new year. So going into this year, we understand it's a new year and that's what I love about it. Whatever happened last year happened. The bad stuff, we want to leave behind, and the good stuff, we want to take with us.”
There is no question about it that Amon-Ra St. Brown and his teammates have the right attitude heading into the 2022 season!
