Defenseman Marc Staal scores first goal as a Red Wing [VIDEO]

The Detroit Red Wings are on the board first, and they have defenseman Marc Staal to thank.

The veteran scored his first goal since being acquired by the Red Wings during the offseason after several years with the New York Rangers, crashing the net and backhanding a loose puck past goaltender Chris Driedger:

Prior to his time in Detroit, Staal spent nearly 900 games with the Rangers, tallying 432 points.
