The Detroit Lions announced on Monday that they have signed nine players to the Reserve/Future List.
Eight of the nine players were already on Detroit’s practice squad, and they include TE Kennard Backman, RB Mike James, TE Khari Lee, LB Steve Long , OL Matt Rotheram, OL Brandon Thomas, WR Andrew Turzilli and DB Charles Washington.
Receiver Jared Abbrederis was also signed. He was a fifth-round pick of the Packers in 2014.
NFL teams are able to sign players who were not on a roster at the end of the regular season. Futures contracts count against next season’s roster limit and salary cap.
