The players I believe are in the running to become the 37th Captain in Detroit Red Wings' history are Dylan Larkin, Darren Helm, Niklas Kronwall, and Frans Neilsen.
The player I see as the next captain for the Detroit Red Wings for the 2018-19 season is LW Darren Helm.

Helm, who is entering into his 12th season with the Red Wings, has proven to be a more versatile player year in and year out with his ability to play both wing and center, while also being a key contributor in the team’s success (which they haven’t had much of in recent seasons).
What makes Helm a good choice for Captain is his ability to work hard on the ice during every shift and doing everything necessary to help the Wings win. Whether it is forcing loose pucks, setting up his teammates for a pass or a late goal, or to be that extra fresh voice in the locker room, those are the qualities you’d expect from a team leader.
Helm is one guy you look at to not only help a hockey club be successful, but his teammates can learn a lot from his knowledge and experience when it comes to team-related activities, from locker room conversations to the start of every game.
The Red Wings are at a point in time where youth is much needed along with developing the younger talent they already have. Although the Wings were fortunate to name Steve Yzerman Captain, a position that he held for 20 seasons, lightning rarely strikes twice. With Helm’s consistent productivity in his most recent seasons, along with his given work ethic and locker room presence, it is fitting to me, that the “C” would be stitched on the #43 jersey before the season opener on October 4th.
Nation, who do you believe should be the next Captain of the Detroit Red Wings?
