Ex-Lions head coach Jim Caldwell expected to land interview

During his time with the Detroit Lions, Jim Caldwell led the team to a 36-28 record, including two berths in the NFL Playoffs.

Despite his success, many (including the Lions front office) believed the team was never going to get over the hump with Caldwell running the show and they decided to go in a different direction by hiring Matt Patricia.

Ever since the moment Caldwell and the Lions parted ways, there has been a group of people who believe Caldwell should still be the Lions head coach.

According to a report from Jason La Canfora, Caldwell may get another shot as an NFL head coach.

La Canfora reported on Sunday that Caldwell is expected to get an interview to become the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who recently fired Urban Meyer.

From La Canfora:

The Jacksonville Jaguars intend to begin conducting their head coaching search next week, according to sources, with former NFL head coaches Doug Pederson and Jim Caldwell among the men they seek to speak with.

Both Pederson and Caldwell have accomplished head coaching resumes and are both very interested in returning to the NFL this season. Both are heralded for their work with quarterbacks, of particular interest to Jacksonville with first-overall pick Trevor Lawrence struggling as a rookie, and they are able to be interviewed at any time, as they are currently coaching in the NFL.

Caldwell is literally the opposite of Urban Meyer and he would be a very good choice for the Jaguars.
