Opening Day in Detroit is just two days away and fans of the Detroit Tigers are pumped up about what could be a very exciting season.
According to a report from The Detroit News, we now know who will perform the national anthem and throw out the first pitch before Friday’s Opening Day game between the Tigers and Chicago White Sox.
Tony Paul of The Detroit News is reporting that Jack White (Detroit Cass Tech alum) will perform the national anthem, while Amari Bartee will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
White, a big Tigers fan, will sing the national anthem for the first time at Comerica Park, with his performance followed by a flyover of A-10 Thunderbolts from Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
Throwing out the first pitch will be Amari Bartee, the son of the late Kimera Bartee, who was a Tigers player and coach. Kimera Bartee was the first-base coach last season and was set to return in 2022, before dying suddenly in December of an undiagnosed brain tumor.
Bartee’s family will also be in attendance for Friday’s game and there will be a moment of silence for Kimera.
