Sad news out of the world of hockey.
Former NHL player Jimmy Hayes, a Boston College graduate who would suit up for the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, New Jersey Devils and Florida Panthers, died unexpectedly on Monday morning at the young age of 31. According to police, the cause death of death has yet to be determined, but isn't considered suspicious.
Jimmy Hayes, son of Dorchester, national champion at Boston College and former Bruins winger, was pronounced dead at his Milton home this morning. He was 31.

“Boston College Hockey is heartbroken over the passing of Jimmy Hayes,” Hayes’ hometown alma mater said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Hayes family.”
Hayes appeared in 334 games in the NHL for four teams. He scored a total of 54 goals and 109 points for the Blackhawks, Panthers, Bruins, and Devils. Hayes is survived by his wife Kristen and two young boys, as well as his younger brother, Kevin, who currently plays for the Flyers.
