I am not going to lie. Heading into the 2019 season, I downed the Kool-Aid and I truly believed the Detroit Lions could make a run at an NFC North title.

Well, as we know, the Lions fell flat on their face and finished with a record of 3-12-1, which was good enough to earn them the No. 3 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
That being said, it seems like almost every season we have an NFL team that has a great offseason and ends up going from worst to first in their division.
While surfing Twitter this morning, I came across a graph that shows the Lions have a golden opportunity to go from worst to first in the North.
As you can see below, the Lions are in the best position (by a good amount) this offseason compared to the other three teams in their division.
Not only do the Lions have an advantage over their NFC North counterparts when it comes to effective cap space and draft pick value, but they also have one of the top quarterbacks in the game (Matthew Stafford) set to return from a back injury which sidelined him for the final 8 games of the season.
The question is, does Lions GM Bob Quinn have what it takes to nail free agency and the NFL Draft? I guess time will tell.
