Is Jeff Blashill’s latest comment a reason why the Red Wings should keep him around?

Don’t look now but the Detroit Red Wings are actually playing pretty good hockey as of late.

Following Thursday night’s 4-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, the Red Wings are now 5-3-2 in their last 10 games and they have looked more like a fringe playoff team than a bottom feeder.

Head coach Jeff Blashill spoke to the media after the win and what he said as us wondering. Should Steve Yzerman keep Blashill around for the 2021-22 season or is it time to move on?

“What I like is we’re a better hockey team today than we were at the beginning of the year and a big impact on that is a number of our young players,” Blashill said.

Nation, do you agree with Blashill? Are the Red Wings a better hockey team today than they were at the beginning of the season? If so, is this a sign that the Red Wings should keep him around?

  1. Yes. The Claude Juliens and Gerard Gallants of the world do not to rebuild at this point in their lives and careers.

    • Coaches dont rebuild rosters dude. Thats not their job. Their job is win with the roster they have. To get the most from it as possible on a consistent basis. Blashill has failed at this every season.

  2. WHY NOT KEEP HIM. IT IS NOT ALL HIS FAULT THE TEAM SUCKS. THE PIZZA PUSHER WON’T OPEN HIS WALLET FOR THE WINGS OR THE TIGERS ! TIGERS KEEP PICKING UP LOOSERS THAT OTHER TEAMS HAVE RELEASED IN HOPES OF FINDING ANOTHER J.D MARTINEZ. HE STILL WANTS TO SELL US ON “ONE MANS JUNK IS ANOTHER MANS TREASURE” ALL THE TREASURES WE HAVE PICKED UP SHOULD BE BERIED LIKE ALL TREASURES !!

  3. They are playing with mow desire, but their positioning in the defensive zone, leaves a lot to be desired. Tim & time again, the opposition players Are left uncovered in front of the net. They seem uncertain as to where to go. They also have better results, when they play the body. I personally would like to see a change in coaching. Especially defense & head coach

  4. No and no. This is the point in the season when the players are playing for a spot or a contract. The last 15 games is do or die for them. Next season after 20 games, we will see if they are a better team. Blashill is not an nhl caliber coach. Hes a fundamentals coach. He will be back coaching the minor league team in 3 years or sooner. Its where he belongs. Detroit needs an NHL coach. One who can understand how to win with the team he has and not just has a one size fits all plan. The best coaches, those who win cups, know how to win. Blashill knows how to lose.

  5. No! It’s time for an Jeff Blashill to find a new job in the Red Wings to hire a real NHL coach the last 5 1/2 years he’s gone nothing but downhill and continues to do show why he’s not NHL material. This team has won three games in a row but throughout the year they’ve won games like this it Hass to be on a consistent basis and just three games In a roll means nothing he never has this team ready this week is the best I’ve seen them but with a Blashill and his crew on the bench I do not see it continuing! #FireBlashillFindANewCoach
