When it comes to Jim Harbaugh haters, there is none bigger than Paul Finebaum of ESPN.
Last week, Finebaum took his most recent jab at Harbaugh by saying he is “incapable of beating his biggest rival” the Ohio State Buckeyes.
“What do we think, is this the year, is this the week he finally does it?” asked host Mike Greenberg.
“No, no, no,” he said. “Greeny you can ask me this question until I’m 150 and the answer is still no. I don’t think this Michigan team – although they are better than they have been, significantly better – can beat Ohio State. This is a really good, if not great Ohio State team and I think there is something in Jim Harbaugh’s brain. I don’t know what it is, I don’t really want to know. He is incapable, incapable Greeny of beating his biggest rival.”
Well, on Saturday, Harbaugh and his Wolverines not only beat the Buckeyes, but they destroyed them.
On Monday, Finebaum ate some big-time crow while talking about Michigan’s epic performance.
“It was amazing and he deserves credit,” said Finebaum of Harbaugh and Michigan’s win on Saturday. “Nobody has taken more heat than Jim Harbaugh, and plenty of it’s come from this big mouth right here.
“But what he did Saturday was he shut all the criticism down, he faded the heat. He put a game plan together that not only won the game against Ohio State, his biggest rival, but they dominated. It was really artistic to watch, and I found myself cheering for Jim Harbaugh and Michigan because it was so beautiful to see. And now, no more conversation about Jim Harbaugh.”
