Larkin to make preseason debut, but Red Wings lose another key forward

The Detroit Red Wings have released the official lineup for their afternoon matchup today at Little Caesars Arena against the Pittsburgh Penguins and they'll have a key figure of their team make his pre-season debut, but one key figure is missing.

According to the team's official website, forward Andreas Athanasiou “tweaked something” and will not be playing in this afternoon's game. However, Dylan Larkin will be on the ice for the fist time.

He apparently suffered a minor injury before Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Islanders, scoring a goal over 17:02 of ice time.

Meanwhile, defenseman Jonathan Ericsson also suffered “a tweak” during practice and won't play.

Here is the projected lineup:

Bertuzzi-Larkin-Mantha
Smith-Rasmussen-Erne
Hirose-Ehn-Zadina
Kuffner-Veleno-Ford

Seider-Bowey
Cholowski-McIlrath
Saarijarvi-Kaski

Bernier (starting)
