During Sunday's 20-13 loss to the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay was forced to leave the game with what he said was a toe injury.

While the game was going on, Detroit radio show host Michael Stets of WJR took to Twitter to point out that Slay is not a shutdown cornerback like so many like to label him.
Darius Slay lets up a 33-yd completion and then gets beat and commits DPI. Yet #Lions fans and some media will still refer to him as a shutdown corner in the near future. SMH

Following the game, it did not take Slay too long to see Stets' tweet and respond.
Soooo u telling me I give up 1 catch an a PI all game I’m not shutdown!!!!! 😂😂😂 https://t.co/6CxptC6VGz

Stets responded to Slay, respectfully doubling down on his original tweet.
I think you are a really talented player. Respect you a great deal. I think fans use the term “shutdown” too loosely. No, I don’t feel you are in that category. https://t.co/zjulfD98Ot

Nation, do you think Slay is a “shutdown” cornerback at this point?
