Lions HC Matt Patricia forces Matthew Stafford, Frank Ragnow to run ‘lap of shame’

Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia continues to make it very clear that it does not matter if you are a star player on the team, you will not receive preferential treatment if you screw up.

On Wednesday, the Lions practiced outside despite plenty of rain, and a couple of the best players on the team were punished after messing up a play.

Those players were starting quarterback Matthew Stafford and starting center Frank Ragnow, who botched a snap and were told to run a lap.

From Detroit News:

Early in practice, the Lions ran a situational simulation where the offense was backed up against its own goal line and had to power out for breathing room. On the first snap, quarterback Matthew Stafford muffed the exchange from center Frank Ragnow, falling on the loose ball in the end zone, resulting in a safety.

It might not seem like a big deal, but Stafford and Ragnow had to run a lap around the field for their failure to execute, showing no individual, including the star quarterback, is above consequences for their on-field blunders.

Nation, is this a good move by Patricia, or should higher-profile players on the team be treated differently?

In my opinion, treating all players equally will go a long way in gaining locker room respect. Every player, regardless of who they may be, have a job to do and they should be expected to do it correctly.
