Mark Dantonio responds to offense inquiry – “That’s a dumb**s question”

Michigan State Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio has drawn criticism from fans and media alike for his team's poor offensive showings, and following a 38-0 loss today at Wisconsin, he got especially indignant when asked about it.

Following the embarrassing setback, Dantonio was asked by Hondo Carpenter of SpartanNation.com if it was a mistake to not bring in any new offensive coaches during the offseason. Here's how he responded:

“We’re seven games into the schedule. I think that’s sort of a dumbass question, to be quite honest with you,” he scoffed.

The fact is, it really wasn't a bad question. Last year following worst offensive output in Dantonio’s tenure as Spartans coach, he did not fire any coaches. Instead, he simply shuffled their roles and responsibilities.

In the first half of today's game, the Spartans held the ball for less than 7 minutes, with just a single first down and 38 total yards. For the game, they had 7 first downs and were 2-for-14 on third down conversions.

What's worse, the Spartans have scored just one offensive touchdown in a game three times this season, and the offense is averaging 21.9 points per game. They also rank 73rd in the FBS in scoring offense, and 81st in total offense on the season.
