A few weeks ago, I took my son to Grosse Pointe to watch the Little League Baseball Michigan State Championship Game between Taylor North and Roosevelt Park. It literally took one minute for me to realize we were watching something special as the Taylor North team took the most-crisp pregame infield practice I have ever witnessed at the Little League level. Heck, it was probably better than any high school pregame infield practice I have ever seen.
Now, this is not to take anything away from the Roosevelt Park squad as they too looked like a legit team but it was pretty obvious that my son and I were about to watch a Taylor North team destined for much bigger things. The Taylor North team got off to a bit of a slow start against a scrappy Roosevelt Park team but they ended up winning the game and the State Championship by a score of 9-2.
With the win, Taylor North clinched a spot in the Great Lakes Regional Tournament in Whitestown, IN and they have continued to dominate the competition. After winning their first two games by a combined score of 19-1, the team from Taylor earned the opportunity to clinch a spot in the 2021 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. with a semifinal matchup vs. Illinois-Hinsdale. Taylor North made the best of their opportunity by crushing Illinois-Hinsdale by a score of 10-0.
Here is the game-winning hit. (There is a 10-run mercy rule in the Little League Baseball Tournament)

With the win, Taylor North punched their ticket to the Great Lakes Regional Tournament Championship Game (this coming Sunday) but more importantly, they earned a berth in the 2021 Little League World Series. This is the first time that a Michigan team has qualified for the Little League World Series since 2018.
If you have not yet watched Taylor North play, you have one more opportunity before they head to Williamsport.
Taylor North will play in the Great Lakes Regional Championship Game on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Trust me, you will not be disappointed!
GO TAYLOR NORTH!
