The Detroit Red Wings return to work following the 2017 NHL All-Star weekend. Their record of 20-20-9 has them in a stunning 8th place in the Atlantic Division, and if things don’t get better, they won’t be participants in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in 26 years. They have 33 games remaining on the regular season schedule to get things right. Here’s who they’re up against this week.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 31 vs. NEW JERSEY DEVILS – 7:30 p.m. ET

This will be the second match-up of the season between the Devils and Red Wings, but the first at Joe Louis Arena. Former Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey will also make his return to Detroit since signing a free-agent deal with the Devils this off-season. Detroit defeated New Jersey 5-4 on November 25 in Newark with a Mike Green-authored overtime tally.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3 vs. NEW YORK ISLANDERS, 7:30 p.m. ET

Former Islanders forward Frans Nielsen will get his second crack at his old teammates when the Islanders visit the Joe on Friday the third. Detroit defeated New York in Brooklyn earlier this season on December 4 by a 4-3 final, with Danny DeKeyser scoring in overtime.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4 at NASHVILLE PREDATORS, 8:00 p.m. ET

The Red Wings will look to sweep the season series with their former Central Division rivals when they play the Nashville Predators in Music City. Detroit defeated Nashville at Joe Louis Arena on October 21 by a 5-3 final.
