It’s almost that time of year! The NHL trade deadline is just a few weeks away, and with the Detroit Red Wings playoff hopes growing slimmer with each passing day, the trade rumors are heating up.
According to Chicago beat writer Mark Lazerus, the Chicago Blackhawks have made calls to the Red Wings regarding the availability of forwards Gus Nyquist and Tomas Tatar.
Take every name you hear this time of year with a grain of salt, but I'm told #Blackhawks have at least sniffed around Nyquist and Tatar.

Tatar makes more sense financially (and he's a pending UFA), but Nyquist might be more expendable to Detroit. Wings maybe looking for D-man.

The move would be a home run for the Hawks, who could add a couple young players with scoring potential to their already potent lineup.
Meanwhile, the Red Wings are desperate for defensive help, and the Blackhawks have plenty of prospects as well as players they may need to get off their own books in order to get help for a Cup run. This is just the first of many rumors you’ll surely hear as the Wings keep their subpar playing ways while we get closer to the deadline.
