The United Shore Professional Baseball League is currently in it’s fourth season and to say it has been successful would be an understatement.
Every since the inaugural season, players from the USPBL have been earning their way to contracts with Major League Baseball affiliates. In fact, 34 players in all have have been picked up by minor league affiliates of MLB teams.
Now, according to a source of Detroit Sports Nation, former Utica Unicorns pitcher Ryan Dobnak will become the first former USPBL player to make it to Major League Baseball as he is expected to be called up by the Minnesota Twins.
In 22 games (19 starts) in the minors this season, Dobnak is 11-3 with a 2.02 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP.
