The next Detroit Lions GM just become available and they must pick up the phone now

After deciding to move on from Bob Quinn, the Detroit Lions are now faced with the task of finding a new general manager to clean up the monumental mess that was created over the past few seasons.

The Lions have already interviewed double-digit candidates for their GM position but in my opinion, they have not yet met with the guy who they will end up hiring.

That candidate is current Seattle Seahawks executive vice president/GM John Schneider and he just became available with the Seahawks losing on Saturday to the Los Angeles Rams.

Schneider, along with head coach Pete Carroll, helped build a Seahawks roster that ended up winning Super Bowl XLVIII 43-8 over the Denver Broncos.

At just 49 years old, Schneider has the experience but is still young enough that if he does build a winning roster with the Lions, he will likely be around to keep it going.

For the past 10 seasons, Schneider has been part of a winning franchise with the Seahawks but he may be ready to move on to a gig where he has the final say over roster moves and the Lions could be that franchise.

If I am the Detroit Lions, I would call up Schneider immediately, set up an in-person interview, and then make absolutely sure that he does not leave Allen Park without a signed contract.
