VIDEO: Justin Abdelkader scores on penalty shot

It had appeared as though the Detroit Red Wings had gotten themselves on the board after trailing 2-0 early in the 2nd period against the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, Lightning coach John Cooper challenged the goal, saying that Justin Abdelkader had interfered with goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy. The goal was waived off.

However, because a hooking call before the would-be goal was going to be levied against the Lightning, the officials once again consulted with each other and concluded the hook prevented Abdelkader from getting a clean shot on his breakaway, and so was awarded a penalty shot.

As soon as they were taken off the scoresheet, Abdelkader put them right back on with a pretty deke to cut the score to 2-1.
