2018 3-star Saline offensive tackle Dimitri Douglas commits to Michigan State

After picking up an in-state commit over the weekend in defensive back Davion Williams (Belleville High School), Michigan State added another Michigan-made prospect from the Class of 2018 on Monday.

This latest pledge comes from 3-star offensive tackle Dimitri Douglas out of Saline High School.

Douglas (6-4, 282 pounds) is listed as a top-50 player overall in the state of Michigan from the Class of 2018, and among the top 150 offensive tackles in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was in attendance for a camp hosted by MSU on Saturday, which is when he formally received his scholarship offer from the program.

Douglas had two other offers prior to receiving one from MSU, including one from another in-state school in nearby Eastern Michigan. He also made an unofficial visit to the University of Illinois last November.

Douglas and his Saline Hornets are coming off a remarkable 11-1 season, with their only loss coming in the Regional round of the MHSAA Division 1 playoffs against eventual champion, Detroit Cass Tech.

The pledge from Douglas now gives Michigan State nine hard commits from the Class of 2018. Douglas is also the first offensive lineman to commit to the Spartans and only the second real-defined player on the offensive side of the ball. He joins another in-state commit in that department in Dearborn Divine Child quarterback Theo Day, who committed to MSU back in February.

This current crop of nine high school prospects for MSU is a group that 9th in the Big Ten and 34th in the country.
