Abdullah

The easiest option for the Lions would be to stand pat with what they already have in their backfield. Ameer Abdullah will be entering his second season in the league and has the size and athletic ability to become an every-down back in the NFL if he can improve his ball security.

Though Theo Riddick has not been given much of a chance to prove he can he carry a full load, he has proven his value out of the backfield. Regardless of what the Lions do to replace Bell, Riddick will likely remain more of a receiving threat than a between-the-tackles type running back. One of the biggest question marks heading into the 2016 campaign is second-year running back Zach Zenner. Zenner tore it up in the preseason last year and forced the Lions to make room for him on their roster. Unfortunately, he was injured and his rookie season was cut short.

If Zenner can indeed come back healthy, there is a chance he gets an expanded role in this coming season.
