On Dec. 14, 2012, a horrific event took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut when 26 people (including 20 children) were shot and killed.
On Saturday, exactly seven years following the tragedy at Sandy Hook, Newton High School won the Connecticut Class LL State Championship on the final play of the game.
Shout out to Newton for winning the State Championship on the 7 year anniversary of the Sandy Hook Shooting. A football game can’t erase that pain but the nice feeling of accomplishment on the anniversary of a dark day can help ease some of that hurt. pic.twitter.com/2n1kVocs1m
